| With
a population of 16,182, Griffith is 151km West of
Temora. Griffith is a vibrant, thriving multicultural
and diverse rural city in a rice, grapes, citrus and cereal
area.
In 1817, John Oxley described Griffith as being 'uninhabitable and useless to civilized man'. However, the introduction of irrigation back in 1912 quickly changed the once barren landscape of this area. The hard work of the very determined settlers who made a go of this challenging existence, eventually tamed this harsh environment. Many of these were returned soldiers from WWI or migrants from Italy.
