John Landerer is a Sydney solicitor whose company (Landerer & Co) specializes in corporate and commercial advisory law. Mr. Landerer is Chairman of Goldsearch Ltd. He is a Director of various other companies.
Mr Landerer was the Chairman of the NSW Home Purchase Assistance Authority.
He served on the Boards of FAI Insurance Group, TNT Ltd, Goodman Fielder Ltd, Bridge Oil Ltd, Australian National Industries Ltd, Advance Bank Australia Ltd, The Gandel Group, Tiger Investment Company Ltd and International Distillers Holdings Ltd. and National Hire Group Limited.
Mr. Landerer is an Honorary Fellow of the University of Sydney and an Honorary Governor of the Sydney Law School Foundation of the University of Sydney . He is involved with the Landerer Chair of Information and Technology at the University of Sydney and the Landerer Chair of Business Ethics and the Law at the Macquarie University . In 1998 Mr. Landerer was appointed a Visiting Professor at Macquarie University in Business and Commercial Law. He is also a Member of the Board of Governors of Tel Aviv University.
Mr. Landerer has been a trustee for the World Wide Fund for Nature Australia and a Councilor of the Sydney conservatorium of Music Foundation.
In 1997 Her Majesty the Queen bestowed on Mr. Landerer the honour of a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for services to legal education and British/Australian relations. In addition, Mr. Landerer is a Member of the Order of Australia in its General Division.
In May 1999 Mr. Landerer was conferred with the award of a Degree of Doctor of Laws honoris causa by Macquarie University .
In 2008, Mr Landerer was awarded by the Italian Government the honour of being Commendatore of the Star of Italian Solidarity for services to Australian/Italian relations.
